Beginner Agility Classes

Agility:  The ultimate game for you and your dog

Agility is where a dog demonstrates its agile nature and versatility by overcoming different obstacles and is simply one of the most enjoyable activities for handlers and dogs alike.  Climb a variety of heights and leap over obstacles while running as fast as you can!  It’s a race against the clock but with supreme accuracy.  Agility is fun and exciting for participants and spectators alike.

Success in agility requires proper training, as it is a game of physical skill, control, patients, and, most of all, teamwork between handler and dog.  At Greens Fork Animal Hospital we are offering beginning agility classes for those who want to get a taste of the action.  These beginner classes are held in the lower level of the animal hospital from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings and are a part of a six week training session.  The first class of each session is an orientation to be held without the dogs.

Things to remember when coming to class:

õ    Buckle collars (no choke or pinch collars)

õ    6 foot leash (no chain or retractable leashes)

õ    Treats (small, soft treats such as bits of meat or cheese, which your dog can swallow quickly are best)

õ    A small water bowl

õ    Lots of enthusiasm, patience, and a sense of humor!

õ    We recommend that you wear comfortable and warm clothing and tennis shoes as classes are held outside.

õ    Do not feed your dog before class.  This will allow him/her to be more attentive and less likely to have an accident during class time.

õ    Dogs entering should be six months of age or older.
